In praise of S1500

I am so pleased with this camera. I have other small digital cameras and full size standard SLR cameras. The S1500 design is in between these, being light with all the different settings and really fits the hand when in use. The zoom is amazing.

when i purchased thi camera i did not expect it to be as good as it is for the price.still using the batteries supplied.the macro is simple and easy to use.bit of noise from motor when using movie,but then to make movies you should be using a video camera.rearly pleased

Digital Camera from Fuji

Not really had the opportunity to give it a full test yet but so far it seems to tick all the boxes. Easy to handle, nice and light, easy controls and very impressive guide in the form of a read-out which appears in the display window telling you the best options for a particular shot. Results are quite good, a little on the dark side but that could be that I haven't set the camera correctly yet. I think the more I use it the better it will get.

For the price a great camera.

There have been some slight criticisms of this camera, most of which have occured when compared to DSLR's.

This is an excellent bridge camera for those who want a bit more than a point and click and are not willing/able to fork out the £500 required for a passable DLSR.

The zoom is good, but 12x is nothing special, it is a useful feature though.

There are five main strong points for this camera.

1. Image Quality - for the price I don't think you can beat it.
I have taken some great photo's with this. Both Sports and
Long Exposure (8sec) Night-time photo's.

2. Features - The Autoscene allows you to take a good
sharp image quickly. The face recognition is good and
the anti-shake is useful.

3. Ability to quickly change Aperture/Shutter Speed.

4. Build quality - Chunky solid well-made.

5. Electronic viewfinder is extremely useful, in bright sunshine
or simply for a bit more accuracy.

Some slight grumbles.

1. Lens cap can come off in bag.
2. Zoom 12x is nothing amazing on a supposed super-zoom camera.
3. A touch bulky in a bag and does not come with any case.

All in all though a good quality well-priced starter camera for someone looking either to get into photography or just a good quality camera for someone who wants a bit more than a point and click.

BRILLIANT Camera

Good value for money, this is an excellent camera that is so user friendly. very impressed with the product and the customer service.

Looks more complicated that it actually is.

Spin the wheel to SR, turn on and shoot. Dont know what all the other stuff is for and I will probably never find out. Great technical looking camera for a bargain basement price.

Brilliant Camera!

Bought the Fujifilm FinePix S1500 just over a month ago after a recommendation from a friend. It is the best camera that I have ever had.
Easy to take great photos, review photos and download photos.
Has a great zoom, adjusts for light and for hand movement.
Small and light to carry anywhere with you.

I highly recommend this camera.

good little camera

Delivered quickly this camera was for my wife.
She likes to 'point and press' and has found the camera very easy to use whilst being able to take some good quality photos.
When I can got to have a go the features included were easy to understand and produced excellent photos.

Better than anticipated.

Having read several reviews for this camera, I have been both pleased and surprised by the quality of manufacture, and very good pictures taken to date (past 4 weeks). Given some negative comment by reviewers about image quality, I have carefully tried a wide range of shots from close up, using Macro and Super Macro settings, to various long and medium telephoto settings. Given the low price of this camera I have to say it produces pretty good results when you bear in mind it is less than the cost of many after market lenses for DSLRs. The camera has a wide range of settings and can be used as point and shoot or set up for really good tailored shots on a tripod. The video is also good, but as mentioned by others - it does produce haunting sound effects when played back due to auto-focus sounds - could be dubbed out though. Only neg would be wide angle lens setting is too narrow, but only a minor niggle. This camera is definitely worth a punt.

Fuji Fine cam

I have found this camera to be a great way to capture some of the best pictures I have taken.
Very good size, compact and very easy to use, I would recommend it to anyone.

Gets five stars despite some niggles

This is an excellent little machine that I would recommend to anyone who wants a more-than-basic digital camera and doesn't mind that with its chunky SLR-style shape it won't fit in their pocket. (It's small and light, and you can get a good carrying case for it.)
The specifications, performance, and image quality are all very impressive. The optical zoom range (there's also digital zoom on top of that but of course that brings lower quality images) is wide, and I do like the "SLR" design, even if it's smaller than a "real" one. My preference is for a viewfinder when framing shots, a legacy of my film photography days, though I have to say the screen here is large and well-illuminated. The handgrip is useful as well, and it houses the four AA batteries used - there's no down time charging batteries though I would recommend using lithium AAs after exhausting the alkaline ones provided. The whole feel and experience of using this camera is a delight. My larger (and more expensive) Nikon D60 is going to sit in its case for special occasions, this camera is much more portable (and with a longer zoom) for easy carrying and use when out and about.
That's not to say everything is perfect. It's best to confine video capture to scenes where the aidio isn't important as the noise from the tracking autofocus can be obtrusive. The USB cable provided for downloading the pictures is half the length I've had on other cameras or even my mobile phone, and that makes the download experience a bit awkward. The bundled software is slow and clunky - I uninstalled mine, and have no difficulties downloading the pictures direct as the computer reads the camera as an external storage device no problem. Oh, and would it have killed Fujifilm to provide a filter thread at the front, even if just for a skylight to protect the lens?
But despite these niggles I'm still giving this camera five stars. That's how much I like it.

Excellent value for money. Bought for teenager. Takes a while to realise all the modes but great pictures, very pleased with present.

I bought this camera for my son, christmas 2008 - we were impressed with it then and still are now its well over a year old - it is a versatile dslr camera taking holiday snaps to creative photography - an impressive mid range camera, solidly put together.We bought 4 good duracel rechargebles (recomended) I give it 5*.

My husband wanted an SLR camera but having reviewed the finepix I opted for this due to the great price. It has been exceptional, great quality pictures and an excellent camera to start off with if you fancy becoming a budding photographer. I amvery impressed with its features and lightweight build, it is simple and easy to understand but best of all it takes great images. A good buy and can recommend

Zoomy,cheapy and chunky

Listen, I don't know much about cameras, but if you are looking for a cheap camera, with loads of zoom and an optical viewfinder which avoids the bright sun problem, then get this. Other features I like are the panoramic shot and the ease of use. So far, the photos are really good. I could have bought the more expensive version, which has more zoom and HD movie capability, but I decided this was good enough, because I'm a basic snapper and flasher.

Excellent digital camera for a beginner

I bought this as a replacement for a previous Fujifilm camera that had a much smaller LCD display. Arrived very quickly with basic manual in English and disc with full manual in English which loaded fine on my computer. Used it quite a bit over Christmas although in basic auto mode only. Photo quality is fine, good bright crisp images even in low light and when flash is used the results have also been good. Batteries have held up really well compared to my previous camera which eats them. Controls easy to understand and with the 12x zoom it has taken some great pictures. Looking forward to getting to grips with the more sophisticated features.
I would have liked to be able to add filters if only UV for protection.
Excellent value at the price and meets my requirements for general use.

Exellent valur for your many.

Fujifilm has managed to built into their FinePix S1500fd camera not only the elementary functions, which you will expect from a piece of equipment of its size and price, but also a few others, you may not use every day, but will find handy to have at hand, once you lean to use them.

The two things I like most about this camera really has nothing to do with the more technical side of it - more with how I expire it in dayly use. The first thing I like is the "lack" of a customized battery, which almost always needs to be charged when you least expect it - you may use off the shelf alcaline or rechargeable AA batteries. Second comes its handy size, which may not fit into any of your pockets, but on the other hand does not strain your back, when you carry it in its strap around your neck!

great value, great camera!

great camera, next day delivery was 2 days ¬_¬, but never mind it was free. slight problem with the zoom getting stuck out but after searching on the wibble wobbly and giving it a good whack on the botom it was soon fixed. this camera has all the manual control you need for taking artistic shots, and great automatic controls for when you can't be bothered!

camera and service can't be faulted, would definately recommend.
